*fangirly firah warning*
The One Where Firah Went To Watch Phantom of the Opera.
Ohmygod....ohmygod...ohmygod....
*sits back in silence, not knowing where to start*
NOTHING I have ever seen on stage could match the beauty that I have witnessed tonight.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
And NOTHING that I have ever DONE on stage came even CLOSE to what I witnessed tonight.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Ohmygod...
I still have goosebumps, thinking about just how spectacularly awesome it was...
And tonight, I have succeeded in striking off two more things on my list of Things To Do Before I Die.
1) To watch The Phantom of the Opera
2) To watch something at the Esplanade.
Watching TPOTO tonight was a dream come true for me, a dream that I have had since I was 11, a school girl in Qiaonan Primary School, Tampines, as I watched the ads on the television helplessly, promising myself that one day, ONE day, I'll be able to watch TPOTO.
Tonight I did, and it was a wait worth while.
Liza, you were right. I cried. From the start, in the middle, at the end. Even in the opening, when the chandelier was being pulled up from the stage into the center of the audience, the way the props were being set up, there was a magical sense of poetry in it.
The use of strobe lights, real flames and fireworks on stage...simply magnificent.
Dude, I'm in love with both The Phantom AND Raoul...
The music was maginificent, a true musical treat with voices that were out of this world...although the chorus might be a bit overwhelming at times, you can't help but get swept away with the power and the drama...simply beautiful...
And when the chandelier fell down onto the stage? Hmm..intereeeesting....
Ok, enough total gushing, and here comes the semi-gushing...
We were seated REALLY high up, with Mel going "Can we BE any higher?" Chandler-style. And me having a phobia of heights? Let's just say before the lights were turned down, I was NOT looking down.
One thing that pissed me off though, was the fact that so many people were coming in late. There was this HUGE group of school kids who had just come in and were noisy, chattering away despite the fact that the musical had already started. Were annoying even during the scene when Raoul and Christine kissed, with one of them making rude kissing noises. I swear I could have thrown my heels at them.
Other than that, it was amazing. And Mel and Justina were totally swept away too...how could we not? It was simply just amazing...
I don't think I'm ever gonna stop gushing...and I'm willing to say that I'm ready to plop an even bigger amount of money just so that I could watch it again...even though it's run in Singapore is almost over, the house was packed...
Ok...am feeling light headed now and shall need to stop..too much gushing and crying...*refers back to start of blog post* Like I said, I really can't describe it..you just have to watch it for yourselves...
Pics are with Justina...will probably get them soon from Mel...
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the king man....salute!
"Think of me, think of me fondly
when we've said goodbye
remember me, once in a while
please promise me you'll try
when you find, that once again you long
to take your heart back and be free
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me"

Another victim! Egggggzellent.
Gimme a call when the next big play is on! No guarantee that I'll actually get to go..but I think missing Grease was a lesson to be learned! Always ask tons of other people before assuming nobody wants to go with you! LOL!
LOL! Oh yeah...and babe, if Farah and I are around? Veronica Mars-related quotes are ensued...
Farah, I LOVE the "and I actually bought a pen that emits neon colours that makes the text stand out..."
"Oh..a highlighter" - line!! A HINT of the old Logan man...

Dang, Grease was a lesson for us both...and I'm glad I found one person who completely shares the same passion! It's a lonely lonely world being an entertainment buff, eh? Or rather, I'd like to call the both of us, entertainment experts...HAH!
