My feet and throat are sore, but it's the awesome kind of sore.

And hey! Us B.A. in English grads! We have our own song! "What Do You Do With A B.A. in English?" The answer is...er..I don't really know...

Avenue Q was RIDICULOUSLY hilarious. Just after Yana and I got over the fact that Liza's tickets actually meant that we were seated on the floor (ok, technically it's called the Door 2 section) of the Esplanade. And after we got over going, "OHMYGOOOOOOOOD," whisperingly while we were walking down the aisle to get to our seats.

Which means that yes, we got to see the puppets up close. Yes, we got to see the facial expressions on the puppeteers. And YES, it's the frigging damn VIP section of the Esplanade so my life is pretty much made in terms of theater/musical watching at the Esplanade.

It was an interesting approach, no doubt, considering that Avenue Q is a non-too-subtle parody of Sesame Street. There are also parodies of some of the familiar Sesame Street characters in the musical and it's safe to say that I'll never look at Bert and Ernie and Cookie Monsters the same way again. *Yikes!*

I loved how there was incredible synchronicity between the puppets and the puppeteers. They'd used a different cast for this leg of the tour but I personally don't think that it affected the flow of the show at all. The way the facial expressions of the puppeteers/actors matched their puppets, it was easily to find yourself suddenly transported to a world where humans, puppets and monsters co-exist together. The connotations are there and are pretty much in your face. Topics that are still sort of taboo for the young adults, where the demographic of the musical was targeted at those ages 23 and above, were addressed in a fun and tongue-in-cheek way.

And the singing? WOW. WOW. WOW. I need the soundtrack, like now.

And the guy who played Princeton and Rod..heh..he's cute...and acted in a musical that has "Zafira" in the title...random? Sure, random enough for me to Google it later...heeee

The set was AMAZING. There was no change in the background, with only the use of tv screens to determine the setting. Like what they always say on Sesame Street (or was it Barney?), "Use your imaaaaaginaaation." And it worked.

Lucy, The Slut was probably the cutest slut I've ever seen in my life.

The audience was responsive (thank goodness! Cause you know how "blur" some Singaporean audience members can be sometimes) although some might have been a little uncomfortable with the curses used on stage. Come on guys..we're all adults..the use of "fuc$", "shi#$" and all the other colorful swears...don't bull and say that you don't use them too...

All in all, it was just...WOW. I'm sure it had something to do with the awesome seating (and yes, I cannot shut up about it) which helped Yana and I enjoy the experience up close. The Esplanade was gorgeous..I want to marry the damn hall if I could but I can't so I'll just bask in its golden glow then..

Reached home at 1am, exhausted but exhilarated. YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

And now, back to our regularly scheduled lives...

OH! And who wants to watch Ethan Hawke do William Shakespeare's The Winter Tale in March at the Esplanade? The tickets that I'm looking to go for are SGD$250 or RM 575. Yes, it's steep but it's FRIGGING Ethan Hawke and it's directed by Sam Mendes. Anyone? ANYONE??!?!?1
