9 Years Worth Of Waiting

Back in 2002, I was sitting crossed-legged on the floor of my dormitory, reading the newspaper. I remember coming across an article about Kelly Clarkson possibly making a stop in Singapore for a concert that year.

After losing my shit, I swore that if she ever came down to South-east Asia again, I was going to go and see her live.

Last Sunday, my dream came true and it was 9 years worth the wait.

And it was especially special since I was able to do it with my American Idol partner in crime, Farah. I have not met anyone else who loves her as much as I do, and who knows Kelly's songs as much as I do so since March, when we first bought the tickets, it was a constant battle to hold in the squee until the night arrived.

And BOY was it worth it.

We had local opening acts, Jacqueline Victor and Suki, and there was this awesome moment when a bunch of balloons from the top of the stadium were released and the sky was just littered with orange and green balloons. The downside, though, was that we discovered that the security guards were being a bitch and a half about cameras. If you took photos using your camera phone, they'll give you a stink eye. If you took a photo using your camera? Forget it. They'll tell you to go back to your car. WTF??? So yeah, no videos although we tried :( :( :( :(

The concert itself though? WAS AMAZING. Kelly opened with All I Ever Wanted and...ok..Malaysia, you suck. I know it's a seated venue but the audience just sat through the whole thing until the very last song where a group of people in front of us pretty much couldn't care anymore and just stood up. That felt good to just rock out to My Life Would Suck since we had all that pent up energy from all the other songs.

There was a fanboy behind us who was singing along to her songs which made things so awesome. Most of the people around our seats were kinda stick-up-their-asses-like and were just...I dunno...One thing for certain though, they were not familiar with her newer songs.

I lost my shit when she did Save You so much so that I started tearing up. That song means so much to me, in twofolds, and to hear it live was just incredible. And she also did I Want You and Don't Let Me Stop You, which just made me squee in delight cause those three songs are actually my favorite from the whole album. It's too bad that she didn't do cry though :(

And her cover of That I Would Be Good/Use Somebody was just mind-blowing.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I can pretty much say that she hit every note right and of course, it wouldn't be a Kelly concert if she didn't forget her lyrics..LOL..I think she mixed-up a few lyrics here and there that made us kinda go, "Eh?" cause you know, we always thought it was something else...hehehe...but Kelly herself was adorable and incredibly cute. She went barefooted throughout the whole show and was joking about how she felt like she was in church and the Lord was sweating out of her, thanks to the KL heat...hhahahahaha...

And because the day before was her birthday, the stadium sang Happy Birthday to her right before Save You..no cake though...booo...:/

At the end of the show, I lost my voice and Farah and I almost lost our hearing...we almost didn't make it to the concert on time cause we got lost on the way to Bukit Jalil and Farah had to send me off to the airport at 4.30am the next day.

But it was WORTH IT.
